Madd Gear Drift Trike Assembly Guide

Congratulations on your purchase of the Madd Gear Drift Trike! This guide will walk you through assembling your trike in 7 easy steps. While the video mentions 45 minutes, most people can complete the assembly in 15-20 minutes.

You can view the online user manual for the Drift Trike here.

What’s Included in the Box:

Before you begin, ensure you have all the parts:

  • Rear axle rod
  • Two back tires
  • Two hub caps
  • Four bushings
  • Wrench, sprocket wrench, and Allen key
  • Two washers and two nuts for the rear axle rod
  • Main frame
  • Handlebars (attached)
  • BMX-style front tire
  • Bucket seat
  • Left and right pedals for the cranks

Step 1: Install the Rear Axle

  1. Take the main frame and align the two holes at the back with the rear axle rod.
  2. Use the two bolts, washers, and nuts to secure the axle to the main frame.
  3. Tighten everything with the Allen key and wrench provided.

Step 2: Attach the Back Tires

  1. Remove the nut and washer from the rear axle rod.
  2. Take a bushing and ensure the teeth face outward. Place it on the axle rod.
  3. Attach one of the back tires onto the rear axle rod.
  4. Add another bushing (teeth facing out) to the outside of the wheel.
  5. Secure the wheel with the washer and nut you removed earlier.
  6. Use the Allen key to tighten the assembly.
  7. Press the hubcap firmly into the wheel to secure it.
  8. Repeat this process for the other back tire.
    • Note: It’s normal to have some play in the back wheels; this won’t affect performance.

Step 3: Attach the Bucket Seat

  1. Remove the four bolts from the main frame of the drift trike.
  2. Position the bucket seat at the farthest back setting.
  3. Insert a bolt through the seat and frame, then add a washer and nut underneath.
  4. Repeat for all four bolts, securing the seat to the frame.

Step 4: Attach the Handlebars

  1. Remove the bolts, washers, and nuts from the handlebar clamp.
  2. Insert the handlebars into the frame, ensuring the brake mechanism is on the rider's right-hand side.
  3. Reattach the clamp using the original bolts, washers, and nuts.
  4. Use the Allen key to tighten and ensure the handlebars are centered.

Step 5: Install the Front Wheel

  1. With the trike upside down, remove the bolts securing the front fork.
  2. Insert the BMX-style front tire, ensuring the bearing is on the side opposite the brake.
  3. Reinstall the top bushings and bolts, securing the front wheel in place.
  4. Alternate tightening each side with the Allen key to ensure the wheel is firmly attached.

Step 6: Attach the Pedals

  1. Locate the pedals labeled L (left) and R(right).
    • The L pedal is reverse-threaded, while the R pedal is standard-threaded.
  2. Hand-tighten each pedal into the crank, starting with the left pedal.
  3. Use the wrench to fully tighten both pedals, ensuring they are secure.

Step 7: Adjust the Brakes and Inflate the Tire

  1. Use the Allen key to adjust the brake pad so that it sits firmly on the rim of the front tire.
  2. Adjust the brake mechanism using the wrench to fine-tune its position.
  3. Inflate the front tire using a standard bike pump. Simply push back the trap door on the tire valve and inflate as needed.
