Repair your Kruzer 200 Folding MechanismUpdated a year ago

If you've accidently disassembled your Madd Gear Kruzer 200 Scooter folding mechanism, all hope is not lost!

This procedure is difficult but not impossible if you follow these instructions. The most difficult part is removing the C-clip which ideally requires a special removal tool but can be accomplished without it.

Like any mechanical work, safety glasses and the proper procurations should be taken. If you are uncomfortable doing this work then you should take it to a local skate shop or bicycle shop to have a mechanic work on the product.

If you have disassembled the folding mechanism, generally you will find yourself where we begin this demonstration.

Steps:

1. Remove the c-clip. This requires a special tool like this c-clip removal tool. That said, removal of the c-clip can be achieved with other tools. *Note: This clip is spring loaded and will fly off if caution is not used. Madd Gear is not able to replace lost parts from performing this procedure.

2. Loosen the grub screw to slide the folding mechanism lever off. Do not remove the scew all the way or you will lose it.

3. Remove the folding lever, rubber washer, bolt and locking flap. Sit these parts aside to be used later.

4. Slide the female end of the folding mechanism bolt through the front locating hole. Only slide it through enough so that you can line it up with the scooter downtube.

5. Once the bolt is partially through, take your spring clip and press it into place. The bolt needs to run through the clip at the closed end holding it in place. The folding mechanism will not work correctly if you do not get the bolt through the correct portion of the spring clip.

6. Insert the male end of the two-piece bolt and tighten using your Allen wrenches. Ensure this bolt is tight.

7. Insert keyed bolt through rear hole on the folding mechanism mounting bracket. Before pushing all the way through, insert the front potion of the locking flap inside the headtube. There will be some resistance due to the inserted spring clip.

8. Once everything is lined up. Slide the keyed bolt all the way through to the other side.

9. Install your rubber washer or grommet.

10. Slide the folding lever onto the exposed end of the bolt and tighten the small grub screw on the underside.

11. Finally, install the c-clip. Again, we suggest using the correct tool to do this and wear safety glasses. Generally, these clips can be pushed into position using some pliers gripping one of the tabs on the open side as demonstrated in the video.

Congratulations, you have just repaired your folding mechanism. Test it thoroughly and ensure all hardware is tight before riding.
